EYFS
EARLY YEARS AT WISTANSTOW
At Wistanstow Primary School we provide a seamless transition from our partner Nursery setting on the school site (which takes children from the age of 2). The joint curriculum statement below shows how children develop their skills in key areas from 2-5 years of age.
Join Curriculum Statement
We ensure Nursery children are familiar with the school and teachers by having nursery come to join us at various points during the year. This includes; coming into the school hall for a freshly cooked lunch every term, attending/taking part in school events such as Church Services and school plays, joining Class 1 for forest school once every half term, joining reception for an outside play at least once a week and joining Class 1 for a story every Friday at the end of the day. Once the children move into school, they have a play-based curriculum in Class 1 with an increasing amount of adult directed time as the year progresses.
To record some of the children’s child and adult initiated activities, we use the app Tapestry. Parents will be given access to this so that they can see what their child has been up to during the week.
For more information about Class 1, visit the Class Pages > Class 1 section of the website.
