The Edge Schools’ Federation takes its foundation philosophy from the Parable of the Sower which reflects the largely rural farming communities which the federation serves – providing fertile ground in which all members of the school community have the opportunity to flourish, and giving guidance, help and support for those who might at times be experiencing challenges in finding themselves in the best conditions in which to grow and develop.
‘Then he told them many things in parables, saying: “A farmer went out to sow his seed. As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up. Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow. But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root. Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants. Still other seed fell on good soil, where it produced a crop—a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown. Whoever has ears, let them hear.” Matthew 13:3-9
Mission
Our mission is to keep rural schools at the heart of our communities. Our small schools are our strength. We know our children individually, understand their unique learning style and provide tailored support in a nurturing and familial environment that allows every child to not only succeed but to thrive. Through our Federation we are more than the sum of our parts providing our children with curricular and extra-curricular possibilities and opportunities which engage, enrich and excite them.
Vision
Our vision is to educate, inspire and empower generations of children through a network of schools that are recognised at a local and regional level for developing enthusiastic, resilient and independent children. Through high quality teaching and a commitment to excellence we will inspire a love of learning and confidence in each child’s unique abilities. By embracing a sustainable and collaborative structure, we will continue to evolve and grow, ensuring that our schools remain a cornerstone of opportunity and success for generations to come.
Values
In all we do, and all that we encourage our children to do, we value Generosity, Trust, Courage, Justice, Service and Truthfulness. Each half term we focus explicitly on one of these values through our Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) education sessions and in our school assemblies.
